The Political Pulse is designed to be a hub for those searching for all things political. I’m hoping to take a hard look at this year’s important issues with a little bit of humor. It’s important not to get caught up in the day-to-day trivialities and see the big picture of our electoral process, and at the Pulse, hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for.
I am a senior journalism student at the University of Texas, but a native of the battleground state of Pennsylvania (where I’m still registered, incidently). Last fall I took a course from political writer Dave McNeely called “Politics and the Press” and haven’t looked back since. After my exposure to pols and pundits in that class, including former President Bill Clinton aide (and former UT student body president) Paul Begala and former McCain strategist (and former Daily Texan Editor) Mark McKinnon.
From there, I began working at U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s Austin office, and last summer I worked for U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in Pittsburgh. Though this blog may be new, I’ve been at this type of thing since 2005. Around October of last year, however, I felt like I really found my voice in the blogging world and have been producing posts on a 3-4 post per week basis (on a good week).
